State of the City Address
2010 State of the City Address Featuring the Honorable Annise Parker, Mayor of Houston
VISIONARY CLIENT: GREATER HOUSTON PARTNERSHIP
PROJECT:
2010 State of the City Address Featuring the Honorable Annise Parker, Mayor of Houston: The State of the City Address is an annual event put on by Greater Houston Partnership as an opportunity for the current Mayor to share their vision for guiding the city into the future. For the 2010 event, GHP would be hosting new Mayor Annise Parker in her inaugural State of the City Address to the business community. As she approached her 100th day at the helm of the nation's 4th largest city, Mayor Parker would be reflecting on the administrations accomplishments during her brief time in office and provide a realistic perspective on her plans for moving Houston forward through the challenges it faces.
The Greater Houston Partnership engaged VISION Production Group to produce this high profile event in a manner that would represent the Houston Region proudly on a national stage. The event was to be streamed live by local broadcast affiliates with national feeds as well as via a webcast component. The State of the City Address attendees would include Houston business and community leaders along with elected officials, the region's consular corps and media. The event needed to reflect well on the region as a platform for this important dialogue and to showcase GHP's role as the primary advocate of Houston's business community dedicated to building regional economic prosperity.
VISION set about creating an agenda that would accomplish GHP's event goals and objectives in tandem with those of the Mayor's office. The State of the City Address presentations were coordinated for a cohesive flow that would engage, entertain, inspire and provide an ideal environment for the Mayor to drive home her key messages. Keeping in alignment with the Mayor's strong fiscal goals for the region, VISION engaged volunteer participants including the Mayor's Alma matter Rice University to be part of the event and utilized cost-effective production and staging. The end result included a high energy atmosphere that showcased issues close to the Mayor's heart such as youth, education and City Services as well as elements of the Mayor's own personality. Choreographed performances included the Rice School Elementary Honors Choir, the Rice University MOB Band and Presentation of Colors by the Houston Police Department Honor Guard. Broadcast and webcast feeds captured the event live with efficient feeds and the invited public were inspired to standing ovations.
"Great Meeting. Great Team."
